The UK Online Safety Act (“UK OSA”) is a new set of laws that requires online platforms to take steps to protect children online, including by implementing age verification processes designed to ensure children access age appropriate content.
In compliance with the UK OSA, all Quora users in the UK are required to complete age verification before enabling adult content through their Quora profile.
Note: for UK users who previously enabled adult content in your settings: that feature has automatically been disabled. If you wish to re-enable adult content, you will need to complete age verification in order to turn it back on.
Quora has partnered with a 3rd party, k-ID, for age verification. k-ID is an organization that seeks to empower kids, teens, and their parents by helping companies build age-appropriate experiences.
k-ID and Quora do not store the information you provide to verify your age (e.g., the face scans or copies of the identification documents). That data never leaves your device. It is solely used for the purpose of verifying your status as an adult, ensuring that we comply with legal requirements for protecting children online.
k-ID takes steps to ensure all information provided to them by users is treated securely and in accordance with their Privacy Policy and applicable law.
